Protecting Your Tech Gifts
If you got any great tech gadgets as gifts over the holidays, you’ll definitely want to protect them. Here’s a few suggestions on how to best protect your new devices.
1. Physical Damage
It’s important to get your electronics good cases to protect them from getting physically damaged.
In my opinion, good cases are ones that protect the corners and will also help protect against water damage. Screen protectors are good ideas as well since our devices are prone to being scratched.
2. Virtual Damage
It is very important to lock down our phones. Make sure to use a screen lock on your phone, the more difficult the better, some phones even allow complex passwords or fingerprint scanning.
Always get anti-virus or security software on your new devices, especially computers, to protect your device from the very beginning.
Don’t forget to keep your software up to date because the updates often include security updates as well to keep your devices safe.
3. Lost Phone
Try to recover lost devices using the Find My iPhone App or Find My Phone App on an Android device.
If you can not get your device back you can wipe your phone clean using the Find My Phone App so at least no personal information can be taken off the lost device.
Always make sure to backup devices using external hard-drives, icloud, or backup assistant. This will help you to recover pictures, contacts and other important information that was on your phone.
