Our talking tech expert, Nyika Allen, President and CEO of New Mexico Tech Council, joined New Mexico Living to explore some of the best tech options to help take the stress out of filing our taxes.

She brought with her two apps to help you this year. The first is from the Internal Revenue Service, which allows you to not only file your federal taxes, but you can track you return, refund and make payments right from the app. The second, from Intuit, is a calculator which allows you to estimate your refund or expected payment.

Both apps are compatible with iOS and android.

9th Annual Women In Technology Celebration

Tech expert Nyika Allen, President, and CEO of the New Mexico Technology Council joined New Mexico Living to invite us to their 9th annual Women in Technology Celebration.

The celebration is designed to recognize the achievements of women working in New Mexico’s technology arena, promoting the role of women in tech and science, and encouraging women to pursue careers in these fields. The day will include awards to deserving women in tech and a scholarship for someone who is continuing their education in the field.

Our very own Carmelina Hart will be emceeing the event on Thursday, March 2nd at the Sandia Golf Club. Tickets and sponsorships are available online.

Buying and Selling Online With Letgo

Tech expert, Nyika Allen from the New Mexico Tech Council joined New Mexico Living to show us the latest app ‘Letgo’ which will help you let go of and sell your used stuff.

We are all probably familiar with CraigsList as an online platform for selling used goods, but there is a new company that’s giving used goods a new look. The app and website have a much cleaner look and with the addition of easy to view pictures, it makes it easier to use than other platforms. It is free and available for iOS and Android.

Aspirations In Computing

The National Center for Women and Information in conjunction with Aspirations in Computing are offering awards to assist young women in Information Technology.

Tech expert, Nyika Allen from the New Mexico Tech Council explains, “the number of jobs in IT is only expected to increase”. Opening up the opportunities for diversity in the field and a push in positioning for women in IT careers.

Technically inclined young women are encouraged to apply no later than November 7, 2016.
